Artistic Vision
My shift toward fine watercolor art emerged from a longing for true artistic liberty, following years spent detailing acrylic still lifes and mastering ceramic craft. Rooted in my youth in Moscow and a foundational expertise in classical Russian folklore imagery, I now dedicate my craft to the lyrical elegance of radiant botanical watercolors. Each brushwork represents four decades of creative growth, merging the structured discipline of my Kansas City Art Institute education with a soulful palette. The result is a series of immersive, textured works that beckon each observer into a serene space for reflection.
Meet the Artist

Irina Yastremski
Meet the Artist Irina Yastremski is a Russian-born American fine artist, illustrator, and ceramicist currently based in Richmond, California. With a brush in hand for 40 years, her extensive artistic career spans multiple decades, moving gracefully across a wide variety of styles, from traditional Russian folklore illustration to vibrant floral watercolor art.
Emigrating from Moscow to the United States in 1975, Irina pursued her formal training at the Kansas City Art Institute, graduating in 1978. Over her deeply rooted career, she has explored several different mediums and successfully exhibited her work in shows across the East Coast, with a notable presence at the Southern Vermont Art Center.
An Evolution in Color While her earlier years included painting rich still lifes in acrylics alongside her work as a fine artist and ceramicist, a relocation to Richmond marked a beautiful shift in her creative vision. Today, Irina paints exclusively in watercolors. She is drawn to the medium for the profound sense of freedom it provides her—a freedom that translates effortlessly into the fluid, colorful, and emotive floral collections that define Ways With Flowers today.
